1206 - Reposting Fanfiction of Old... Along With A Couple
Topic: Fanfiction

Haven't done a fanfiction-related update in a while and here's hoping I'll follow through this time.

For the month of December, every Monday and Thursday, I'll be re-uploading the old fanfics to the currently-under-construction website that is being refered to as the Twisted Realms. And I figured that I share the joy (or pain) of this ancient scriptures by posting the link to these works for all to see.

While some of these are available on FF.Net, others will be dusted off from the vault for the first time ever. And some of the pre-existing stuff have gotten the "re-mastered" treatment, re-edited and altered to fit the new canon being established. Some cases are minor fixes while others will have altered content. Nothing particularly special, but considering the future content being readying, I want to avoid any inconsistencies.

So here's the present schedule that is currently planned, but may change depending on my mood - will apprise you of changes if they happen. Also, I will try to post these early in the morning, but I'm not making any promises other than it will be linked that day. So here's the scheduling for the moments.

December 3, 2009

-Shadow of the Dragon (PRZ story, remastered with edits and a new scene)

-CV: In Death's Lair (one-shot CV story, unaltered)

-Fallen (one-shot PRT story, "lost" tale)

December 7, 2009

-Breakdown (PR story, remastered with edits and revision)

-Death of GR (one-shot MMPR story, unaltered)

December 10, 2009

-Zero Hour (PR story, remastered with many minor edits and a couple major ones)

-Ranger In A Box (one-shot MMPR story, unaltered)

December 14, 2009

-PR vs. SF: A Parody In More Ways Than One (one-shot, unaltered)

-MMPR vs Phakers (one-shot MMPR story, unaltered)

-Desolate Town (one-shot CV story, brand-spanking-new)

December 17, 2009

 -PRDT: The Will To Live

-Mortal Cause (one-shot PRLR story, "lost" tale)

December 21, 2009

-Plague (MMPR story, minor edits and one new scene)

December 24, 2009

-Eighth Coin (MMPR story, minor edits and a major revision)

December 28, 2009

 -???

 -???

December 31, 2009

-PR Beginnings (one-shot MMPR story, 2009 Final Cut)

On a sidenote, I'm aiming for regular FF.Net updates to begin some time in February 2010. This will be done on a bi-weekly basis. If things go well, I'll probably bring it up to regular weekly updates. Again, not making any promises.

The new versions will be available for the moment on the site exclusively, but will eventually hit FF.Net in the coming months when I feel bored or something.

Later.

1169 - *sigh*
Topic: Fanfiction

I had two dates set and missed them both. Please tell me you're not surprised.

Here's the deal: there's going to be a Bite commentary coming this Saturday which will explain what's going on so far. Suffice it to say, these late delays aren't due to simple laziness.

1164 - Zero Hour Remastering
Topic: Fanfiction
Began uploading the first few chapters of the new version of Zero Hour, my Countdown To Destruction pseudo-adaptation and concluding volume to a trilogy I wrote years ago. In addition to a couple edits and fixes, there's been a couple major changes to the narrative - notable in a couple chapters.

1163 - From the soapbox: Power Rangers - Hollow Time
Topic: Fanfiction

To make up for the fact that I was supposed to have a wonderful return to fanfiction writing, here's a look back at a possible concept that was eventually abandoned in favor of... something else, like long-term isolation.

Power Rangers: Hollow Time - Part 1

According to the original file, I originally wrote this back in April 2006 and later abandoned it. In all honesty, I sort of cheated here and did a couple quick edits to make it readable. If there's an interest in the story, I might give it another go.

1161 - I'm supposed to have posted something today...
Topic: Fanfiction

...but unfortunately, I've been sick and sadly, little time I have not grinding in pain is spent outdoors and doing other interesting stuff. So sadly, no posting.

Oh, don't bitch about it. It's not like I didn't give you a fair warning days ago.

In any case, next week's update will happen - followed by another weekly update... not so sure about the one after - seemed like a good idea at the time, but now it seems stupid on paper, so that won't happen.

So after that quick shot, the next batch of updates (and possibly regular intervals) will happen in October. I'm hoping to get as much material done as possible so that I can possibly keep up.

Don't feel too bad. I'll have something up later tonight to make up for it. Check back soon.

1160 - One week delay - honest
Topic: Fanfiction

As I have mentioned a couple times, I'm pretty sick and in pain. This sick and in pain business is keeping me from getting shit done. As a result, I'll have to push back the postings of the fanfics by one week. So here's the revised schedule:

July 31st, 2009 - Solace: A Zeo Tale
August 7th, 2009 - Turbo: The Final Duel
August 14th, 2009 - Star Trek: Confusion

More to follow... honest.

Topic: Fanfiction

Having decided to revive the old Cogs of War concept and having decided upon a fairly easy format to operate on, I've started up a blog exclusively for this project... and yes, it looks cheap and plasticky.

Link's on the sidebar.

1153 - Fanfiction Update - Present Release Schedule
Topic: Fanfiction

Figured I'd get this out of the way before all was said and done...

Here is the present timeline for the posting dates of the various fanfics I am currently planning on finishing and releasing on Fanfiction.Net (and eventually my own site when and if it gets done):

July 24th, 2009 - Solace: A Zeo Tale
July 31st, 2009 - Turbo: The Final Duel
August 7th, 2009 - Star Trek: Confusion

Just to clarify, these are the due dates that I'm aiming for to finish these stories. Once completed, I will be uploading them to the FF.Net page and hopefully, they will be appearing fairly quickly. Seeing as I haven't touched that account in years (literally), I can't say if the story will appear immediately or if there's some delay (presumably so), so I will inform you when you can access these works of fine reading... or not.

And if I absolutely miss the date, I'll let you know on that count as well. Hopefully, it won't come to that... maybe I'll make a deal with...

No. No, I won't go there.

Later.

1145 - Two weeks left to go...
Topic: Fanfiction

...before I'm due to post some stuff. In all honesty, things have stalled a bit, but it's been slow progress for the most part. While a couple old stories are being retooled and finished, new ideas pop up that seem like a good idea at the time.

In any case, it looks like I'll have a couple short stories ready to go next month and I'll be posted those weekly. As far as major fanfics go... that's another story for now. I'll let you know.

1090 - It's been a good long while, hasn't it?
Topic: Fanfiction

Three years ago, I left a couple stories unfinished and never looked back. Damn, that was a long wait, right? Anyway, I don't I'll be finishing those stories anytime soon, but I will be posting something some time next month... if time and willpower permit me to do so.

On a related note, the long-overdue timeline to the PR fanfics is also in progress, which includes a couple works in progress. Stay tuned... or something.

1012 - Fanfiction Updating Thingie
Topic: Fanfiction

Yeah, I know it's been awhile.

Actually, the better part of you are probably amazed I write fanfiction at all.

So yeah, it's been a good long while. About 700+ days since my last update and about half as long since my last announcement that I would be getting back into the groove of things...

So let's get this over with...

I was planning on a happy October revival, but realize that goal is probably not possible... especially since I don't have anything remotely finished or ready to post yet.

So here's the deal.

There hasn't been much demand for my return to the fanfic writing deal... to be honest, I'd be surprised if most people believed I was still around. To be quite honest, it's been a good long while since I've trolled FF.Net and it's too bad. Because hidden among the piles of no-tales and poorly-formatted fanfics lies some really cool stuff worthy of their own little corner on the web.

I might aim for a November comeback - it depends on how much stuff I got ready to go before then. Just keep in mind that I'm not as free as I used to be and that other priorities (and hobbies) may keep me from the good ol' Word Processor... not to mention I can't find the old version of Netscape Composer that I use to write the older fics with, but I digress.

The only sure thing is that I got something in the works... can't say much, but stay tuned..

Later.

963 - So... where's the Captain?
Topic: Fanfiction

So over the past couple weeks, my weak-ass attempt to parody the summoning of Captain Planet has produced an empty result. Quite simply, despite my use of the classic elements (and HEART!), I have no Captain Planet.

Perhaps you're just wondering what the fuck I'm talking about.

All I can say is stay tuned...

Oh and... THE POWER IS... wait, no it's not.

839 - Rangers of Our Past - Prologue
Topic: Fanfiction

Disclaimer: The author would like to inform readers that Power Rangers is owned and copyrighted by Disney/BVS and not the author. The protagonist of this story and narrator is a creation of the author.

The Power Rangers changed my life.

It's not always something you hear from anybody whose life they saved, but I can honestly tell you that my life would have been in a different direction right now had it not been for that chance encounter. Most likely I'd be dead and I wouldn't be standing here right now. Somehow, fate had different plans for me and they seemed to have unfolded fifteen years ago on that fateful day.

I'm twenty-seven years old now and standing in the middle of the Hero's Monument in Angel Grove, a city that has prided itself as being the birthplace of the Power Rangers legend. So much pride they had in those heroes that they erected a monument in their honor over what was once a Youth Center before a fire burned it to the ground. You have two narrow buildings alongside the main streets, containing various videos, images, and wax museums detailing the exploits of the Power Rangers as they defended the city. There's even a small shrine dedicated to other Ranger teams not from Angel Grove.

And standing in the middle of the open square was the monument's centerpiece: a marble statue of the original Power Rangers team. A friend of my sister was commissioned to do the artwork, given her fondness for the subject. Personally, I think it has something to do with that Gold Ranger statue she did back in high school, but what do I know? I was only twelve at the time, barely struggling through junior high.

I could almost remember the day like it was yesterday. Actually, I can remember it quite clearly...

"Keith, I can understand what you're going through. I've been through the same thing when I was first drafted into the service five years ago and I almost quit too. It's a tough burden being a part of a team you or the others have no faith in. But the thing you have to understand, son, is that we didn't choose you to be a part of the team. We chose you to lead the team. We chose you to make the decisions that the others couldn't make. We chose you because of the one selfless act you commited just moments before our guys picked you up. You have what it takes to lead the team. You just don't see it."

Keith considered Richard's words as he juggled the changer in his hand. "So what kept you from quitting?"

The veteran shot a wry smile. "I'm hoping you'll find that out for yourself."

"I feel the need to warn you," the shadowy figure said, "This individual you are dealing with is the ultimate evil in the universe."

Red Fresh stepped forward and thrust his fist into the air. "Tell us, Master Zedden! Who is the ultimate evil?"

Beneath his cloak and metal grill, the figure grinned wickedly. "His name is Eugene Skullovich. He also goes by Skull."

"Skull?" Green Fresh bellowed, "His name sends chills down my spandex!"

"Then we must go after this Skull and prevent him from destroying the Earth!"

And with that, the Fresh Rangers performed one final pose before teleporting away in flashes of multi-colored lights. When the coast was cleared, the cloaked figure looked up towards the sky and then tossed away his cloth, revealing himself to be Lord Zedd - arch-fiend of the Power Rangers.

"Prepare to say goodbye to one of your school chums, Rangers," Zedd cackled, "Then prepare to meet your match!"

553 - Classic Repost: Power Rangers Beginnings [Sample]
Topic: Fanfiction

To celebrate (or at least make known) my return to writing fanfics, I've decided to repost an old Power Rangers fic: Beginnings is a story I wrote years ago that adapts portions of the first Power Rangers episode and the unaired pilot into one narrative. This is a sample of what was written (typos and all), but if you want to read the whole thing, click here for the link.

---

In a time of great strife, a legendary interdimensional being known as Zordon came to the city of Angel Grove to establish a vanguard in the never ending struggle against evil. With the aid of his trusted assistant, Alpha 5, the noble master sought out five extraordinary teenagers and gave them the power to transform into an unstoppable fighting force. In time of great need, the young heroes could now call upon colossal assault vehicles known as "Zords". While the identity of the five remained a guarded secret, their courageous exploits soon became the stuff of legend, earning them the title... The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers... this is the beginning of their story and how they came to be...

---

Jason Lee Scott is a martial artist. Some say he's one of the best in Angel Grove High School. Good enough that he teaches free classes at the Angel Grove Youth Center. Today, however, he's attempting another challenge in the local Bowling Alley; maintaining a perfect streak of strikes.

Sitting behind him were his two close friends; William "Billy" Cranston, a 16-year old prodigy wearing thick-framed glasses and blue overalls, and soft-spoken Asian girl Trini Kwan, wearing yellow khakis and a white muumuu shirt. Both were discussing effective means of scoring a strike through mathematics and physics, loudly as to try and disrupt Jason's train of thought. Like the wise martial artist that he is, he stared down patiently at the group of pins down the bowling lane, blocking all audible senses from his mind. With a stone face, he then stepped forward and rolled the bowling ball down the lane and at a high speed, managed to knock the pins down and score a strike. The pins having been knocked down, Jason's face glowed and turned to the young boy in glasses and his Asian companion sitting by the desk.

"You see, Billy?" he gloated, "You don't need complicated equations to score a strike. Just some concentration and skill."

"Not to mention a high probability of chance." Billy said suggestively, "Wouldn't you say, Trini?"

Jason's eye flew wide open, "What did he say, Trini?"

"You were lucky." Trini answered calmly and to the point.

"You call that shot lucky?" Jason asked Billy, "That's kind of natural for me to score several strikes in a row."

Billy pointed at the bowling lane as another set pins were placed at the end, "Perhaps you would prefer to demonstrate your hypothesis by scoring another successful strike."

Jason laughed, "Okay! You're on, Billy my man!"

Jason picked up his gleaming red bowling ball and prepared to bowl. He took a little longer, swirling the ball around as if he's practicing martial arts katas. Behind him, a young dark-skinned teen greeted people. He approached Billy and Trini, greeted them, and proceeded to sneak up on Jason. As soon as he was in position, he tapped on Jason's shoulder, startling him. Jason drops the ball and watches as it rolls into the gutter.

Jason turned to see the teen. He then smiled, "Oh, you're really funny, Zack! I had a perfect game going and you managed to screw it up! Thanks a lot."

Jason approaches Zack and playfully punches him in the ribs.

"Hey, hey!" Zack yelled. Jason stopped and the two clutched hands. "How's it been, dude?"

Jason smiled, "Other than the ruined streak, everything's been peachy."

"Um... excuse me."

Jason and Zack turned to the next lane to see a brunette holding a pink bowling ball.

"Do you mind? Some people are trying to bowl a strike over here." she replied, "namely me."

Jason and Zack both bowed their heads down. "Sorry, Kimberly," they both said in unison with a kiddy tone, "we won't do it again!"

Kimberly Ann Hart, the typical 'valley-girl' archtype, sighed and turned her attention towards the pins. She took a step forward and prepared to launch the ball. But instead of launching it towards the pins, she launched it away from the lane and towards a table of punks. The balls lands on a plate of chili, which splatters on a punk.

Kimberly stared at her hand and groaned, "Oooh! I broke a nail!"

The punk who got chili all over him approached Kimberly with two other punks. He violently turned Kimberly to face him and his ruined jacket and shirt.

"You're gonna pay for this, you klutz." the punk snarled, pointing at the stain, "so I'm gonna let you have a nice date with me in payment."

Kimberly weakly pushes the taller punk away, "Sorry, but I don't date non-humans."

The punk laughed and approached Kim, "You don't have a say in the matter." He then grabbed Kim's face and motioned in for a kiss, but Kimberly pushes him away and slaps him in the face. The punk is pushed away and crashes onto Billy and Trini's scoring table. Billy looks at the punk in fear and backs off behind the safety of another table. Trini pushed the punk off the table and unto the floor.

"Don't you ever learn?" Trini said in annoyance.

The punk got up and stood tall against the shorter Asian girl, "You're gonna make me, little girl?" he asked.

As a reply, Trini punches the punk in the nose, then delivers several more quick blows to his stomach. The punk falls back and his two friends approach Trini. This prompts Jason and Zack to rush in and deliver flying kicks to the two punks, knocking them to the ground. The punk made his approach towards Kimberly, but she flips over him and picks up her chili-covered bowling ball. She launches it at the punk's face and connects. The punk flies down the bowling lane and slides until he crashes into the bowling pins.

Billy gets up and assumes a baseball umpire's gesture, "STRIKE!"

Two punks remain and the blonde punk pops out a switchblade. He strikes with the blade towards Jason, who successfully sidestepped the attack and kicks the switchblade away from the punk, allowing Trini to trip him with a foot sweep.

Billy goes umpire again, "STRIKE TWO!"

One punk remains and Zack delivers several blows to the punk's ribs. He follows it up with a spinning wheel kick to the punk's face and knocks him down.

"Strike three!" Billy yelled, extending his arm up. Inadvertently, he hits a punk recovering and quickly turns to see the punk falling flat on his back. The crowd in back who witnessed the attack applauded the teens, especially Billy's last blow.

---

Some time later, the punk that harassed Kimberly was being carried out by members of his posse, dirtied shirt and all. Billy approached Jason who was putting away some of his bowling gear and praised by various people. Jason turned his head towards the youngster.

"Billy," Jason greeted, "what's up?"

Billy didn't hesitate, "I want to register for your martial arts classes."

Jason looked surprised, but inside he was expecting a request from Billy. After all, the poor guy was always getting picked on and couldn't defend himself. Jason put his arm around Billy's shoulder and grinned.

"We could start today at the Youth Center if you like." he pointed out.

Billy smiled and nodded. "I accept."

---

At a nearby planetoid... two astronauts are surveying space rocks. Suddenly, a comet strikes the surface. Rick Taylor and James Rulan looked ahead at the explosion.

"What the hell was that?" Rulan exclaimed.

Taylor dropped the space rocks he collected and watched as they smashed on the ground. He cursed in silence and looked ahead at the puffing smoke. He motioned towards Rulan to approach the object. Taylor soon followed.

An hour later, Taylor and Rulan saw the fallen object. It appeared to be a container of some sort, with a flashing jewel in the center of the lid. The origin was unknown, as it is not from earth. At first site, Taylor and Rulan rushed towards the object and examined the object.

Rulan looked at Taylor, "What is it?"

"It looks like some space dumpster," replied Taylor, "but I don't recognize any of the markings."

"Do you think we should open it?"

Taylor reached for the glowing jewel and suddenly it flashed. Consciously, both astronauts lifted the lid from the container. Almost instantly, several balls of energy flew out of the container and struck the ground a couple meters away. When the smoke cleared, several figures appeared and stretched their limbs. One was a gold-armored warrior who bared similarities to the simian. Another was short, stumpy, and had blue skin. The other was taller and was sort of a space vampire. The last one was a white creature who appeared to be very old.

Taylor and Rulan rushed away from the band, but tripped over a crater and fell flat to the ground.

"After ten thousand years," the old creature said, "it's good to be free again, don't you think so, Goldar?"

The simian replied with a growl, "Squatt! Awake our empress! We are finally free!"

"Rita! Oh Rita!" the short monster called, "Wake up! We're free!"

Within the dumpster stood a middle-aged humanoid female. In her hand was a staff with a round circle-like figure. She stretched her arms and gave out a mighty moan.

"Ah," the female shouted, "after ten thousand years, I'm free!"

The taller monster approached Rita and helping her out. Rita heard a splat and looked down as her foot was in a puddle. She stared at the monster and pushed him aside.

"Baboo," she snarled, "you're a baboon! You made me step in a puddle!"

Rita walked towards the band of monsters and turned her attention towards the space canister. She aimed her staff at the dumpster and a beam struck the object, literally breaking it apart.

The two astronauts tried to get up and escape before the witch could spot them. But once they were on their feet, they ran into an invisible barrier.

Rita pointed at the two men, "Please don't leave! You'll miss my coming out party."

Taylor looked up at the witch, "What party?" Rulan shook his head in disbelief.

"It will be a great party," declared Rita, "where I destroy the nearest planet!"

The two astronauts stared at the group of aliens for a while as they announced their intentions. At first, they had thought they were being delusional, that none of this was real. But deep down in their hearts, they knew better... this was real and this could be trouble for those on Earth. Rulan was the first to get back on his feet and took a step towards the alien gang, who noticed him and focused their attention on him.

"No!" Rulan announced, standing on his feet while his partner got up, "We'll warn our government of your plans!"

The small band of monsters, along with their leader, laughed long and hard at the allegation of the two human astronauts that stood before them. Rita calmed down and let out a deep breath, causing strong winds. The winds were strong enough to swipe Rulan and Taylor off the surface of the moon and into deep space.

Rita turned to her minions. "Now that they're gone, let's head to the palace."

538 - [Preview] Power Rangers Evilution: Ascension - Part 4
Topic: Fanfiction
So a few days ago, I said I would try and get back into the fanfic-writing game. A couple of stories that have been left hanging will see continuation in a couple months, but I thought I'd share a sampler of the next chapter of the Power Rangers Evilution: Ascension story. Considering that I'm re-opening the files for the first time in months, I don't know what to tell you in terms of a posting date as well as what to expect. This is more or less proof that a follow-up chapter does exist... even if it was written months ago. Enjoy.

Power Rangers: Evilution
Volume 1 - Ascension
Chapter 4

Adrenaline and pure willpower were Andros' only drive as he sprinted towards Angel Grove Hospital shortly after hearing the news that his longtime friend had been attacked in an alley and beaten to the point of unconsciousness. Fortunately, he was close to the hospital when he got the call.

When he got there, he saw the former Space Rangers and Karone in the waiting room. All of them, apparently, had gotten the news about Zhane's attack. Upon seeing the Red Ranger, Ashley broke into a sprint and embraced him briefly. One quick look at her tear-stricken face told Andros the story.

"How is he?" Andros asked, "What happened?"

"Zhane got attacked in an alley." Karone struggled to keep from breaking into tears, but failed. "Scorched his back. Hasn't regained consciousness since we found him." Carlos put a comforting arm around Karone and brought her into a hug. TJ and Cassie also held each other in an embrace, struggling to deal with their grief.

"They've been in there for an hour already," Carlos added, "And they haven't found the monsters responsible for this."

Andros clenched his fists, holding in the urge to break into a scream. Instead, he simply said, "I'm going to make a call."

"To whom?" TJ asked, clueless.

"Someone I've recently gone in contact with over the past couple months," Andros replied, "A longtime veteran of the game."

None of the others understood what Andros had meant, but TJ caught on and gave the Kerovan an affirming nod. Returning the nod, Andros walked over to the pay phone down the hallway and started looking for change. He cursed himself when he found only paper bills in his pockets.

"Want a quarter?" Andros jumped. He saw a huge man in a blue suit holding out a quarter. Andros begrudgingly accepted the offering and gave his thanks. The man nodded and walked away as the Red Ranger kept his gaze. There was something about that guy which made Andros uneasy, but put the thought aside as he slipped the coin into the slot.

He took a moment to recall the number that he had gotten from the database and then dialed her number. While he had never met the man he was about to call, he had been highly regarded by those who know him and he had been in the game longer than anyone else. If anyone can help Andros, it would be him.

Much to the Red Ranger's surprise, however, he heard a woman's voice on the receiver. "Hello?"

Andros tried to hide his distraught, but his voice was faltering. "Is this the residence of Thomas Oliver?"

"Yes, it is," the woman replied, "But he's not here."

The Red Ranger frowned. Fortunately, he managed to gather his wits and his next words came out more smoothly. "Well, could you tell me where I can get in contact with him?"

There was an uncomfortably long silence before the woman asked again. "May I ask who's speaking?" the woman inquired. She seemed distant and cold.

"My name's Andros. I'm a former Power Ranger."
